MILLENNIUM AFRICA GRADUATE 350 YOUTH IN VARIOUS SKILLS TO MARKED DEMOCRACY DAY CELEBRATIO GBN

The Millennium Africa Global Initiative had graduated 350 youth in various skills at Abdulsalam Youth Center to marked the Democracy Day Celebration.

The National Coordinator, Mr Marshal Okoro, stated that the skills program is geared towards empowering the unemployed youth in the state.

Mr. Marshal called on stakeholders and government to support the effort of the nongovernmental organization by providing starter packs to the beneficiaries, he said giving the starter pack will go a long way in sustaining the skills acquired.

The Honorable Commissioner, Niger State Ministry of Youth Affairs, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Hussaini Ahmed described the participants as worthy and confirmed that the ministry will continue to support and partner with the Millennium Africa.

The Perm Sec ascertained that Ministry had put in place monitoring mechanism to evaluate skills training in the state in order to make it productive and impactful to the economic growth of the state.

Also, Professor (High Chief) Casmiar Obialum opined that entrepreneurship and skills development should be part of the school curriculum in order to avert system collapse in the labour market.

Professor Obialum further explained that skills acquisition is important to society as a means of reducing unemployment, the Professor therefore advocated for attitudinal approach as the yardstick to business success or failure, he said attitude shape business and determine its success.

Similarly, the Speaker Niger State House of Assembly, represented by the Coordinator Marafa Foundation lauded the effort of the Millennium Africa; he said the Foundation will assist in the provision of Starter packs to the beneficial.

Meanwhile, the Chanchaga Local Government had donated six sewing machines to the graduates as part of the council contribution to the empowerment program in the state.
